Northland resident Elana Hohl grew up in a conservative Indiana town in the mid-20th century. Surprisingly, Elana and her husband Michael, who grew up in Northland, began traveling the world shortly after their wedding–starting with a Peace Corps assignment in Afghanistan.
She and her husband will co-present at our NABA meeting, highlighting interesting aspects of cultures that can be found in Northland, and favorite Northland shops and restaurants. Elana understands that many of our long-time “legacy” residents are intimidated to try ethnic grocery stores and restaurants, and offers tips and inspiration to interact with the many cultures of our neighbors.
Elana — whose fourth book was published this year — has taught English-as-a-second-language in Columbus-area schools for decades, taught in the MIddle East for 10 years, and writes and speaks about her international assignments and travels.
